Bob joined the Club in 2003 after his daughter participated in the Tri-Star basketball Skills competition.  As a high school and college student in West Virginia, he had always been involved with service organizations but had not found an outlet as an adult and parent.  The Boyertown Optimist Club afforded the opportunity to give back to his new community through involvement with programs for the development of Boyertown youth.  Since joining the club, Bob sponsored expansion of the club's programs with the introduction of the boys' Lacrosse program in 2004, has coached in the basketball program, and generally helps behinds the scenes in other programs.  He became a Board member in 2004 and in 2005 began preparing the weekly OpTalk membership newsletter

Bob resides in Gilbertsville with his wife Arlene and children, Megan and Christopher.  He is employed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as the Supervisory Examiner for the Philadelphia Field Office in Blue Bell, PA.

Tom joined the Organization several years ago after he registered his son for the Club’s football program. He was (and still is) impressed with the long-term commitment of the Club’s members to the core mission and values of Optimist International and the Optimist Club of Boyertown. Tom has held several board positions including: board member, second vice president, and first vice president. Tom is a coach in the Club’s football program. He is a past assistant chair of the program as well.

Tom is the owner/operator of Graphic Print Solutions, Inc. in Barto. Tom and his wife Sharon reside in Barto and are the proud parents of Matt, Kyle, and Christophe

John Breidenbach, Secretary

Committed to the Boyertown Optimists for over 46 years, with over 46 years of perfect attendance at the weekly club meetings, John is viewed by fellow club members as the bloodline of the organization. In 1970 he was awarded the Club’s most prestigious award, the Optimist of Year, for his continuous dedication and service to the Boyertown community. In 2001 he was again rewarded for his dedication to the Club. The Club honored John with their Board of Directors award. John has held many positions within the local organization including serving as president in 1986. He has held the positions of vice president, treasurer, and director. He currently serves as the Club’s secretary where he has received many Optimist District awards for his dedication and hard work. Beyond the local organization, John is also active in the Pennsylvania/Upper Delaware District of Optimist International. He served as a lieutenant governor three times. During his time as a lieutenant governor he received many awards from the district for his dedication and service to the position.

For over 40 years John was a self-employed businessperson in Boyertown. He also served 14 years as a Boyertown borough council member. John is very proud of his two daughters. Kathleen is an Associate Dean at the New College in New York. Jill is a registered nurse and works at the Eagleville Hospital. Jill is employed by Hunterdon Medical Center in Hunterdon, Hunterdon, N.J. as the System Analyst Coordinator.

David Levengood, Treasurer

For over 25 year Dave Levengood has been attending weekly Boyertown Optimists Club meetings. In fact, he has had perfect attendance at meetings for all 25 plus years.

Joining the club in 1980, Dave became quite active within the organization right away. He was elected to serve as the Club’s president in 1984. In 1986 he was awarded the Club’s most prestigious award, the Optimist of Year, for his continuous dedication and service to the Boyertown community. In 1995 the Club nominated Dave to receive the Optimist International’s President’s Golden Circle award. This award was bestowed upon him in grateful recognition of his outstanding and personal participation in the activities of the Optimist Club of Boyertown. In 2000 he was again rewarded for his dedication to the Club. The Club honored Dave with their Board of Directors award because by that time Dave had served 17 years as the Club’s treasurer.

As well as serving as the Club’s president and most notably as the Club’s treasurer, Dave was the football program’s co-chair from 1981 through 1984. He is a former Piggy Bowl, Bike Safety, and Program chairperson. He also coached in the Club’s girl’s softball program for five years. Currently Dave serves as the Club’s treasure and budget chair.

Dave is employed by The Pottstown Mercury and is married to Joana who is the Controller for S&W Racing.

Dave credits his children’s involvement in the Club’s program as to his reasoning for joining the organization 25 years ago. Jennifer is a former participant in the Club’s cheerleading and softball programs. Scott is a former Optimist football player and a current coach. Kristi is a former participant in the Club’s cheering, softball, and basketball programs. Andrew is a former participant in the Club’s football, basketball, and lacrosse programs. Abigail is a former participant in the Club’s cheerleading, basketball, and lacrosse programs. You can always count on Dave’s children to volunteer their time at many of the Club’s activities and programs.

Lastly, Dave would like everyone to know how proud he is of his three grandchildren, Morgan, Hailey, and Scott, Jr.

Jacob Hartline, Board Member

Jake has been an active member of the Optimist Club of Boyertown since 1960.  Since 1960 Jake has earned the Club’s perfect attendance award.  Jake has served the Club in many capacities including board member and president.  Jake is responsible for the Club’s message board/sign in Boyertown and he is the host of the Club’s summer meetings.

Jake is a retired insurance salesman and resides in Boyertown with his wife Marylin.

Richard Arnsberger, Board Member

In 1986 Dick Arnsberger joined the Optimist Club of Boyertown.  Since then he has served the Club as a board member and as president.  Dick is also the chair of the Club’s annual Christmas Tree Fundraiser.

Dick and his wife reside in Gilbertsville.

Brian Heimbach, Board Member

Brian joined the Optimists in 2003. He, and his wife Linda, brought boy's lacrosse to the club and the Boyertown area, with the assistance of Bob Shingleton. He has been a chairman of that program since the start. In 2007 he was bestowed the Board Of Directors Award, along with Linda. He has enjoyed over 30 years of volunteering his time to the youth, with 24 years in the local Baseball programs and 6 years in lacrosse. He has been involved in coaching, officiating, and administrating these sports. He attributes his desire to be involved with the youth to his parents, Tom & Sandra Heimbach, who were always involved in sports and scouts. His father was a long time baseball & Optimist football coach. Brian also attributes his involvement in lacrosse to his two sons, Corey & Eric, who love to play the sport.

Brian resides in Boyertown with his wife Linda and two sons, Corey & Eric. He has worked in the steel construction industry for 30 years, and is currently self-employed. Linda is the controller at Associated Truck Parts, Inc.

Lastly, Brian would like to thank the Boyertown Optimist for believing in his dream, and accepting boy's lacrosse.
