The Optimist Club of Boyertown's girl's lacrosse program is a developmental program that promotes skill development and enhancement, leadership, and teambuilding opportunities in a fun, healthy, and safe environment. Because this program is a developmental program, prior experience is not necessary. It is the goal of the program to provide the young girls of the Boyertown community an opportunity to learn the game of lacrosse prior to entering junior high.
The program begins in early April and runs through mid June with practices, games, and tournaments.
Girls currently in grades three, four, five, or six who reside within or attend a school within the boundaries of the Boyertown Area School District are encouraged to participate in the program.

Audrey Nettles
Having played lacrosse and field hockey in high school, and watching her own daughters play at the junior high level, Audrey saw a need and had a vision for a girls youth lacrosse program in the Boyertown area. Learning of the new boy's lacrosse program, and being exposed to the Optimist Club of Boyertown through her husband's coaching in the Club's basketball program, Audrey approached the organization to offer her ideas and express her desire to establish a program for the girls. It was a winning combination.
After following the lead of Brian and Linda Heimbach's boy's lacrosse venture, the first year of the girl's program was a great success. Audrey has now taken over as the program's coordinator and has the full responsibility of organizing and running the girl's program. Audrey brings with her several years of coaching experience in basketball and soccer, along with her unending passion for the growth in the sport of lacrosse.
Audrey works as a Senior Registered Sales Assistant with her husband, Marc, a Financial Advisor, with Wachovia Securities. Audrey and Marc reside in Gilbertsville with their two daughters, Malissa and Andrea. Their oldest daughter, Machele, resides in Philadelphia.
