| The Boyertown Optimists' youth cheerleading program is a developmental program
that promotes skill development and enhancement, leadership, and teambuilding
opportunities in a fun, healthy, and safe environment.
The cheerleading program supports the Club's football program at most football
games throughout the season, which runs from early July through early November
for practices and early September through mid-November for games and
exhibitions. Cheerleaders support the football program in terms of sideline
chants and cheers throughout the game, and with half-time routines.
Because this program is a developmental program, prior experience is not
necessary. The Club does not believe in "cutting" cheerleaders from the
program. The Club may cut girls from the program who do not register by the
specified registration deadline, the Club will not cut girls from the program
based upon ability.
Youths entering grades 1st through 7th in the fall of the upcoming academic year who reside within or attend a school within the boundaries of the Boyertown Area School District are encouraged to particpate in the program. Youths entering seventh grade may participate in the program as well once they have tried out for one of the two Boyertown junior high schools. Youths may not cheer on both the Optimist squads and either of the junior high squads at the same time.
