2011-2012 Essay Contest
The Optimist Club of Boyertown is proud to offer an academic program and Scholarship Opportunity for the youth of our area. In association with our parent organization, Optimist International, and the Atlantic Central District, the Boyertown Optimists announce the 2011-2012 Essay Contest. Please see below for more details.
Topic: "How my Positive Outlook Benefits my Community "
Eligibility: Open to all students attending or residing within the Boyertown, Pottsgrove, and Pottstown School Districts and under the age of 18 as of December 31, 2011. (Cannot yet have graduated from Highschool,)
Entry Deadline: January 31, 2012
Entries must be submitted via email or U.S. Mail on or before the Deadline. (Preferably all essays will be submitted as an email attachment with a signed copy of the entry application sent via USPS.) All entries must include a signed copy of the entry application. The entry application and rules are available at http://www.optimist.org/Form/Essay_RULES_PAD-E_11-12.pdf

Essays are to be original compositions on the designated topic, between 700 and 800 words in length, and will be judged according to the established rules of Optimist International as noted in the entry application. Additional information may be obtained by contacting Robert Shingleton.
Past participants in the Piggy Bowl Prince and Princess Essay Contest are eligible to participate in this Essay Contest.
Prizes:
Club Level: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place receive a Certificate and Cash Prize
1st Place is also entered into the District Contest
District Level: 1st Prize - $2,500 college scholarship

Tri-Start Basketball Skills Competition
Registration - 6pm Boyertown Elementary
All Boyertown residents and students that have not passed the age of 13 as of 3/15/12 are invited to participate in the Tris-Star Basketball Skills competition. Demonstrate your passing, dribbling, and shooting skills vs. other competitors of the same age and gender.
