Essay Contest
The Optimist Club of Boyertown is proud to offer an academic program and scholarship Opportunity for the youth of our community. In association with our parent organization, Optimist International, and the Atlantic Central District, the Boyertown Optimists announce the 2009-2010 Essay Contest. Please see below for more details.
Topic: "The Internet: Today's Evolution or Tomorrow's Menace?"
Eligibility: Open to all students or residents of the Boyertown School District and under the age of 19 as of December 31, 2009.
Entry Deadline: February 1, 2010
Entries must be submitted via email or U.S. Mail on or before the Deadline. All entries must include a signed copy of the entry application. Entries must be submitted to

Contest Rules are included on the application. Essays are to be original compositions on the designated topic, between 400 and 500 words in length, and will be judged according to the established rules of Optimist International. Past participants in the Piggy Bowl Prince and Princess Essay Contest are eligible to participate in this Essay Contest.
Prizes:
Club prize: Medallion and Entry in the District Essay Contest.
District prize: Plaque and a $2,500 college scholarship
International prize:
First place - plaque and $6,000 college scholarship
Second place - plaque and $3,750 college scholarship
Third place - plaque and $2,250 college scholarship

Tri-Star Basketball Skills Competition
The Optimist Club of Boyertown will hold its annual Tri-Star Basketball Skills Competition on Monday February 15th, in-lieu of its regular meeting. This shooting, passing, and dribling competition is open to all Boyertown School District students (Boys & girls)and residents between the ages of 8 and 13 as of March 15, 2010. The contest will be held at the Boyertown Elementary Schoool Gym.
